Oprah’s ‘O’ Magazine posed the following cover story question in the November 2010 issue: “What is your true calling?” Well, these Inspirational Blasts are a response to that question. It’s one I’ve considered long and hard. In shifting gears professionally over 13 years ago, I went through a period of self-discovery and career re-assembly that at times felt like pulling and re-arranging teeth. But in a more practical sense was like giving birth to twins; one named professional calling, the other true calling. At a glance they may look identical but are really not the same. Taken together, they give life real meaning.

There’s no easy answer to the question but there is a right answer that will be made known to each of us. As you consider all the factors for making life work, be mindful of living-out your life’s worth. This will position you as an eyewitness to deeply cherished moments and a living witness to your peers, friends and family. Some people have come to know me as an Author/Speaker, Blogger and Dreampreneur. That’s because I employ my professional calling as an authority on reinventing your career, starting a business and living your dreams at www.JoetoCEO.com. However, my true calling allows me to deliver “vocation inspiration.”

So, in a nutshell, that’s the story of my life. My thanks to you for sharing this time and space together. We’ll see each other down the road sometime, maybe even meet-up at the coffee house, lunch counter or dinner social.

  1. Doc,

I didn’t read Oprahs feature but I am down with it and would love to take this journey with you. Good Stuff. Question though, Would your “True Calling” be an aggregate of your professional, personal, and spiritual callings? Just a thought.

    • Yes, we will learn and grow together. Every piece of feedback or comments received will cause us to think seriously about this subject.
There’s more to come on some of the points you raised. For now, a simple way to look at it is this; true calling is how we provide a return on God’s investment in giving us life!

  2. Doc, I hope you understand that you are writing a daily devotional workbook that is transforming lives and helping people that you will never, ever meet get from their personal wilderness experiences to the promise land that God has long prepared for them. This is a truly a joy to watch unfold brother and I want you to know that I am so proud of you!

  3. For me life has always been a journey bursting with a myriad of emotions. Like standing in the middle of the ocean and waiting for high tide. Sometimes I rise above it but during other experiences the current takes me under. I am seeking insight. Asking for direction. Trying to stand through adversity and yet diliberately trying to grab hold to the good in life that is rightfully mine.

Doc, keep the flow of insight. It gives life its just meaning.

    J. Williams
